Hebert, William H. 1944-2008
Bill was born in Boston , MA and moved to Florida as a young child with his father, Maurice. He graduated from Largo High School and served his country during the Vietnam War in the United States Army as a parachute rigger with the 82nd Airborne. Upon his discharge he settled in Clearwater and joined the Clearwater Police Department. His humble and caring nature earned him the respect of many in and out of the department. He enjoyed many duties over his 20 year career, including Officer Friendly, leader of the Police Explorers and Sergeant for the night shift. He had a successful second career as a Pharmacy Inspector for the State of Florida and retired last year. He enjoyed biking, cooking and was a lifelong volunteer for the USA Roller Sports acting as a national judge for competitive figure skating, a sport he began in his teen years. Bill lived a full life and was very proud of his family. He is survived by his wife, Linda, daughter and son-in-law, Lisa and Kevin Holland Largo , son, Jason Tarpon Springs, step-daughter, Meghan Dallaire Seminole, and grandchildren, Zakary, Peyton, Natalie, Noah, Rachel and Devin. Friends are invited to a celebration of Bill’s life beginning at 4 pm Thursday, May 15 at the Panda Restaurant, 1201 Cleveland St. , Clearwater . In lieu of flowers, the family asks that donations be sent to the Fraternal Order of Police, Lodge 10, PO Box 1743 , Clearwater , FL 33757 .
Just discovered Bill’s obituary online. I was Bill’s skating partner for many fun years. He was a wonderful person and sorry I lost touch with him. My condolences to all who cared for him. Fondly, Lynn
