Donald R. Hadd, 81, of Sun City Center, FL passed away Sunday morning, May 11, 2008 at Sun City Center Hospice House in Ruskin under the care of LifePath Hospice.
Born in Honolulu, HI, and moved here from Toledo, OH in 2005. He earned a Master’s degree in History and retired as a History professor from Tallahassee Community College. He also taught at Owens Community College in Toledo. He was a volunteer tour guide at the Toledo Historical Museum and sold textbooks. He was a member of Prince of Peace Catholic Church, Sun City Center and served as an usher at Blessed Sacrament Catholic Church, Tallahassee, FL. He retired from the US Army Reserve as a Lieutenant Colonel in 1973 after 29 years and was an army veteran of WWII and the Korean War. At 50, he began running marathons and completed seven of them. He was a world wide traveler and an avid reader. He was preceded in death by his brother George A. Hadd.
Survivors include his companion, Carol Junkes; four sons, Patrick of Crestview, FL, Thomas of Salt Lake City, UT, Daniel and William, both of Tallahasse; two daughters, Donna Rose Bennett of Tallahassee and Caroline Hadd of Woodstock, GA; three step children, Michael, Jennifer and Holly, all of Toledo; twelve grandchildren and three great grandchildren.
