Ralph Torres, 72, of St Petersburg, FL died at Morton Plant Hospital, Clearwater, FL on September 4, 2008 from natural causes. A native of Newburgh, NY and a local resident since 1980, when he moved here from Newburgh, NY; Ralph was a Machine Specialist in the Water Department for the Pinellas County, FL and Orange County, Newburgh, NY county governments. Ralph attended the Suncoast Cathedral in St Petersburg, FL and was a member of the church choir. He is survived by his son, Michael Torres of Newburgh, NY; a daughter, Victoria Wasyluk and her husband, Christopher of Flanders, NJ; four brothers: Nick Torres and Emilio Torres, both of Bronx, NY; John Torres of Lantana, FL and James Torres of Newburgh, NY and four sisters: Vivian Torres of West Palm Beach, FL; Rachel Torres of Middletown, NY; Ruthie Gomez of Texas and Joann Torres of Scranton, PA. Services are 12:00 Noon, Monday, September 8, 2008 at the Sun Coast Cathedral, 2300 62nd Avenue N, St. Petersburg, FL 33720. The family will receive friends at the church on Monday from 10:00 AM until service time. Graveside services are 11:00 AM, Friday, September 12, 2008 at Cedar Hill Cemetery, 5468 Route 9 W North, Newburgh, NY 12550.

Ralphie, I am so sorry you were taken from us. I met you through the Maldonado’s some 15 years ago. I remember all the holidays we spent together, all of the Maldonado’s and you. : You were such a generous man. What I remember the most was you and your kit. You and I had so many talks about the issue of being a diabetic and you even suggested the insulin pen to me for Heather, saying it was easier to use. The Maldonado’s are going to miss you dearly.

I worked with Ralph at the County when he worked for the General Maintenance Department. He will be missed, I really enjoyed talking to Ralph.
Ralph was like an uncle to me and I will miss him dearly. He came to my college graduation and supported all my endeavors. He truly was a good hearted and wonderful person. I’m glad that him and my dad set an example of true friendship and relationship with the Lord.

I am proud to hold the title of “Your favorite Pastor”, a position I am humbled by and do not take lightly. We will miss you in choir and just seeing you around in general. And while we are all so saddened at our loss, I am grateful for the opportunity of getting to know your kids a little bit. I was just reading this morning about Moses going to rest with his fathers. It was back in June of 1957 that I frist met Ralph and his family when I began attending the Assembly of God Church on Newburgh, New York. I got to know Ralph and fellowshipped with him and the rest of the family for a couple of years. I went away to college and spent time away from the area. I saw Ralph at his mothers funeral a few years ago. I rejoiced to hear that he was doing well in his relationship with the Lord. May the Lord bless all that knew him with memories of their special times with him. He will be missed here but is now with his Lord. I learned from the earlier responces the Ralph was a singer.
Ralphy..the last time I saw him was when his Mom left to be with the Lord.Now he joins her. I know he would want all those close to him to some day be with the Lord also.Words can’t express what it must be like for him to be with his Lord and Savior. I was a teen when I first met him in the 70’s and was friends with his sister Ruthie. I was Joyce Cram at that time.
My Brother, I love you and will miss you terribly, but I know you are in heaven and someday I will join you. I can just picture you and Pop playing cards and looking down on us. I just want you to know that you have wonderful children and have so many reasons to be proud of them. I’m delighted to have them back in my life. Ralph was a very sweet man with a great sense of humor. He poked fun of himself and never took himself too seriously. He sat next to me in choir for many years. I always admired the way he took care of his friend Ted. He truly was God’s hands on earth during that rough time in Ted’s life. Heaven is blessed by his presence and I know Jesus is happy he is home with the saints. Ralph will not be forgotten and we have been blessed by his caring example of Jesus’ love. May his family know Jesus as well. You are in our prayers at this sad time. God bless you.

Please accept my condolences for your loss. While I did not know your loved one personally, we have all been affected by the grief death causes.
Revelation 21:3-5 promises that soon death will be eliminated. John 11:28,29 further assures us that we can look forward to seeing our loved ones again. How we look forward to that day!
