Harold Milton Summers, HMCS-US Navy-Retired, 84, of Tampa, FL funeral services are 12:00 Noon, Friday, January 30, 2009 at Christ our Redeemer Lutheran Church, 304 Druid Hills, Road, Temple Terrace, Florida 33617 with Rev. Dr. Waldemar Meyer, Pastor, to officiate.   The family will receive friends at the church from 11:15 AM until service time. Graveside services are 2:30 PM, Friday, January 30, 2009 at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 S/W 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL with full military honors by the Jacksonville Naval Air Station Funeral Honors Team, Jacksonville, FL.
 
A native of Harrisville,WVA and a local resident since 1990, when Chief Summers moved here from Deltona Beach, FL; he was a retired hospital corpsman that served our nation for 24 years; a Lutheran; a World War II, Korean War and Vietnam War Veteran. During his military career, Chief Summers was awarded two Purple Hearts; Bronze Star; Vietnam Service Medal; Vietnam Campaign Medal and a National Defense Service Medal. Chief Summers died on January 28, 2009 and he was a resident of the James A. Haley VA Nursing Home in Tampa, FL for 19 years; a Lutheran and he was also during his military career assigned to the United States Marine Corps as a Company Medic. After his retirement, he became an assistant manager in the nursing home field. He is survived by his wife of 64 years, Patria of Tampa, FL; three sons: Mark E. Summers and his wife, Debra of Litchfield, Maine; Paul Summers and his wife, Cathy of Somerville, NJ and David Summers of Toms River, NJ; four sisters: Josephine James and her husband, Lou of Clermont, FL; Anna Drylie; Margaret Wilk of Jacksonville, FL and Virginia Casenheiser of Ohio; eight grandchildren and nine great grandchildren.
