Lee Irtis Grant, 92, of Tampa, Florida died on March 30, 2009 at LifePath Hospice in Sun City Cenetr, Florida surrounded by family and friends. He was born on October 8, 1916 in Oak Ridge, Roatan, Honduras, the son of the late Alfred and Hilda Greenwood Grant. He was married to the late Margaret Garner Grant.
Lee was educated in Belize, where he became a teacher, and later returned to Honduras and continued his teaching career. He later worked for the United Fruit Company based in Puerto Castilla, Honduras until he enlisted with the Merchant Marines during World War II. He retired to Texas following his military committment and later moved to Tampa, Florida to be around his many family members and friends.
Lee became a naturalized United States citizen in 1966.
Funeral services for Lee will be celebrated on April 3, 2009 at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida.
