George Makris, 80, of Humble, TX passed away April 7, 2009 funeral services will be 10:00 AM, Saturday, April 11, 2009 at the St. Gregory Episcopal Church, 6653 West Chatfield Avenue, Littleton, CO 80123 with Father Todd Sorenson, to officiate. The family will receive friends at the church from 8:30 AM until service time. Graveside services with Masonic Services and the United States Army Funeral Honor Guard will be 1:00 PM, Monday, April 13, 2009 at the Fairview Cemetery, Salida, CO. George was a native of Salida, CO and the former owner of Englewood Coffee Shop and Georjos Restaurant; a US Army Veteran; a member of the O.E.S. Manzanita Chapter # 85, Littleton, CO and Chapter# 415, Humble, TX; VFW Post 10352 in Houston, TX; ELKS Lodge # 2122 in Englewood, CO; and member of the Weston Lodge # 22, Littleton, CO and Humble Masonic Lodge # 979, Humble, TX. George was a Past Commander of Knights Templar # 040, Englewood, CO. He is preceded in death by is parents, Pete and Emma Makris and daughter, Jami Jones. George is survived by his loving family: wife, Jolene Makris of Humble, TX; daughter, Georgene Carlo (Chuck) of Humble, TX; brother, Dannie Makris(Sharon) of Woodland Park, CO; sister, Agnes Toews (John) of Pueblo, CO; son-in-law Albert Jones of Englewood, CO; two grandchildren: Shane Dottenwhy (Rachell) and Amanda Dottenwhy and great granddaughter, Hannah Bickford and numerous nieces and nephews. I’m sorry to hear about your loss. I got the chance to meet George during my early years as a deputy sheriff patroling his neighborhood in the Columbine Hills area. I also got to know George through his brother Dannie, as we were in college together.
George will be missed by everyone that he had touch their lifes. Your family are in our thoughts and prayers during this time and always.
