Colonel William F. Pollard, Jr.  88, of Largo, FL funeral with full military honors is 1:00 PM, Friday afternoon, August 28, 2009 at Arlington National Cemetery- Immediate adjacent at the “Old Post Chapel on FT Lee”, Arlington, VA . Please assemble at 12:30 PM, on the day of the funeral.
 
 A native of Needham, MA and a local resident since 1995, when he moved here from Williamsburg, VA; he was a Methodist and a Veteran of World War II, Korean War and the Vietnam War. His military decorations include Legion of Merit; Meritorious Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster; Joint Service Commendation Medal; Army Commendation Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster; National Defense Service Medal with Oak Leaf Cluster; European-African-Middle Eastern Campaign Medal; Asiatic Pacific Campaign Medal; American Campaign Medal; World War II Victory Medal; Phillippine Liberation Medal; Korean Service Medal; Army of Occupation Medal (Japan); United Nations Service Medal; Armed Forces Reserve Medal; Republic of Korea Presidential Unit Citation Badge and Armed Forces Exepditionary Medal (Korea).
  He graduated from Boston University and the University of Chicago; a former tennis coach at William and Mary College and Christopher Newport College,  he also was an accomplished concert pianist. He is survived by his wife, Eunice Gonyer-Pollard of Largo, FL; a son, Mark C. Pollard of Williamsburg, VA; step-son, Bradford W. Gonyer of Taunton, MA; a daughter, Diane Russell of Gowen, MI; step daughters: Pamela Gonyer of Greenfield, MA , Diane Esser of Greenfield, MA and Dr. Donna Carr of Portlan, ME, three grandchildren and one great-grandchild.
