John L. Halinski, 78, of St Petersburg, FL services are 10:30 Am, Saturday, May 9, 2009 at Holy Family Catholic Church, 200 78th Avenue N/E, St Petersburg, FL. A native of Chicago, IL and a local resident since 2005, when he moved here from Ocala, FL where he had lived for 40 years. A SU army Veteran of the Korean War, he was a retired salesman in the chemical business; a 3rd Degree “Knight of Columbus” and the past president of the Ocala Men’s Golf Association. John is survived by his family: his wife, Catherine Halinski of St. Petersburg, FL; three sons: John W. Halinski, Colonel-USMC-Retired and his wife, Jennifer of Manassas, VA; Thomas J. Halinski and James M. Halinski, both of St. Petersburg, FL; a sister, Laverne Richards of Waconua, IL and two granddaughters, Rachel and Sarah Halinski. I was so sad to read of John’s death in the Ocala Star Banner newspaper. We worked together for several years at Guerdon Industries in Ocala. He was a dear friend and my memories of him are all good ones.
