Walter A. "Buddy" Smith, Jr., 79, died Sunday, May 10, 2009 at The Springs at Boca Ciega in St. Petersburg, Florida. He was born in Brooklyn, New York on July 29, 1929, the son of the late Walter A. and Marie Johnson Smith, Sr. Buddy served in the US Army during the Korean War and later was employed on Wall Street as a banking manager.
He is survived by wife of 54 years, Elva Smith; his son, Walter W Smith, and daughter, Elva Bonitch; and his grandchildren: Cory Smith, Riley Smith, Cassidy Bonitch, Ashley Bonitch, and Luke Bontich.
Military honors and interment were conducted on Wednesday, May 13, 2009 from Florida National Cemetery with Marion County Memorial Honor Guard officiating.
