PARREY, Virginia M. 86, of S. Pasadena, FL, passed away on May 14, 2009, at Palms of Pasadena Hospital. Born June 5, 1922, in Morrisville, PA, she moved to Pass-a-Grille, Florida in 1983 from Trenton, NJ. Virginia’s love of bingo brought her many friends, and her good luck was legendary. The only ones luckier were the family members and friends who knew her. Extraordinarily talented in sewing, she produced award-winning costumes for baton troupes and dancers, gowns for entire wedding parties, and countless pieces of apparel, in addition to excelling in customized alterations. Baking Hungarian goodies was another specialty that will never be duplicated. An accomplished bowler and certified coach/instructor, she was inducted into the Trenton Suburban Women’s Bowling Association Hall of Fame for her service to the sport. Sharp and spunky to the end, she recently quipped, “The Grim Reaper better be quick, ‘cause I’m not slowing down!” Preceded in death by her husband, Alex, in 1998, she is survived by her son Alex M. (wife, Linda) Parrey, daughter Donna Bear, daughter Judy Parrey, and son Richard C. (wife, Patricia) Parrey; grandchildren Bryan Eves, Danielle Cappelli-Clark, Alex D. Parrey, Amanda Bear, Kira Bear and Richard A. Parrey; and great-grandchildren Logan Cappelli and Madison Clark. Cremation will be handled by Veterans Funeral Care. All those who were touched by Virginia’s generosity of spirit are invited to attend a celebration of her life at the Warren Webster Building, 1500 Pass-a-Grille Way, St. Pete Beach, Florida, on Friday, May 22, 2009, from 6:30pm to 8:00 pm. Flowers may be sent to 3404 East Maritana Drive, St Pete Beach, FL, 33706. Visit the family’s online guestbook at www.veteransfuneralcare.com. Veterans Funeral Care 727-524-9292 or 800-467-7850.
To Patty, Rich and Richie,
Our thoughts and prayers are with all of you.
Dear Donn, Judy, Richard and Alex,
Your Mom’s spirit and generosity will long be remembered, along with her wonderful sense of humor. She was always very good to me and my family, and we greatly appreciated her. I still tell people about all the cloths she made me and my favorite green velvet dress, with the rabbit fur trim on the sleeves. She will be greatly missed.
Dear Donna, Judy, Rich and Alex,
I will always cherish the time shared with your Mom from as far back as when Alex was a baby. Her sense of humor and generosity did not go unnoticed. She picked us all up when we were down. She will be greatly missed by both of us.
Dear cousins,
Cannot believe that your mom is gone. I was after my dad to go down and visit, but he has the onset of Alzheimer’s. You are in our thoughts and prayers. Now she is with your dad. Uncle Ernie also sends his love and sympathy. God Bless All of You.
Dear Judy, I just looked at Thursday’s paper and was so sorry to see that your Mom had passed. It’s a difficult time in our lives when our parents are ill and we know that at any time we may lose them. I’m going through this with my Dad. Know that my thoughts and prayers are with you. It’s strange, earlier today I took out the THS yearbook and was looking at our pictures – just reminiscing. And then tonight I picked up the newspaper. Please take care and please get in touch. Love, Deb
