The family will receive friends Global Mortuary, 7210 Ulmerton Road, Largo, FL on Tuesday, June 9, 2008 from 6:00 PM until 8:00 PM with a service by Pastor Howard at 7:30 PM at the chapel. Contact them for service times and dates. DJ was born January 19, 1947 in New Iberia, La and he passed away at his home on June 5, 2009 in Seminole, FL. He was a 17 year old that went into the US Navy. He served three tours in Vietnam and retired after 21 years of service. He came to St. Petersburg, FL and was employed with the City of St. Petersburg as a maintenance service coordinator of the sanitation department from 1986 until 1996. He married in 1993 to his present wife of 16 years, Patricia. He had a stroke in 1996 and was forced to retire. He has a brother, sister, nephew and niece, a son, a step son, two step daughters and one step-granddaughter. During his military career, he was awarded three Good Conduct Medals; three Vietnam Service Medals; a Armed Forces Expeditionary Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Meritorious Unit Commendation RVAH5 Republic of Vietnam- NAM MUC (Gallantry Cross) and a Vietnam Campaign Medal.

I graduated high school with Dulius. Him, I, and a couple of other guys were always running around together. The last time I saw him was right after he joined the Navy. He was one funny guy. May he rest in peace and my condolences to his family.
I also wish to convey my condolences to the family and friends of “DJ”. I was a shipmate of his at VT-4 Pensacola Fla. 71-72. Dulius myself an another traveled to Beeville Texas together for TF9 aircraft training.We stopped at his home in New Iberia for a weekend. We met his folks and had some wonderful home cooked meals.
I happened upon this article while looking up some shipmates from years ago, I. wish I had done so earlier, I am sure he will be missed very much.
