Robert H. Schmidt, 82, of Sarasota, FL, died Thursday (July 23, 2009) at Tidewell Hospice and Palliative Care in Sarasota. He was born in Springfield, OH and moved here in 2002 from Russells Pointe, OH.
He served his country during World War II in the US Navy and spent his working career in Project Management for the Federal Government at Wright Patterson Air Force Base. He was a member of the Masons and was an avid bowler, model maker, woodworker, and bridge player.
He is survived by his wife of over sixty years, Norma Jean Schmidt of Sarasota; daughters, Julia Curtis and Linda Melberth of Sarasota, FL; and four grandchildren. Services have been scheduled at Sarasota National Cemetery for Friday, July 31, 2009, at 10:30AM. Military Honors will be presented by the American Legion, Kirby Stewart Post # 24.
The family has requested that in lieu of flowers that contributions should be made to Tidewell Hospice.
