Arley W. ’Bill’ Fike, 87, of St. Petersburg, FL died on July 31, 2009 at his residence and under the care of Hospice of the Suncoast. A native of Hazel, WVA and a local resident of St. Petersburg, Bill was a retired foreman of shipping for Hercules Chemical Co. in West Elizabeth, PA; a Baptist and a World War II US Navy Veteran, Gunner Mate 2nd Class serving aboard the U.S.S Massachusetts and the U.S.S LSM 212 and the U.S.S. YR 60. His Decorations include a Asiatic Pacific Medal with (1) Star; Good Conduct Medal; World War II Victory Medal and a Philippine Liberation Medal. He loved and enjoyed golf and shuffle board and is survived by his wife, Anastasia ’Ann’ Fike of St. Petersburg, FL.; two sons; Mark Fike of McKeesport, PA and Dr. Jeffrey Fike and his wife, Kathy of Harrisburg, PA; a step daughter, Linda Winner and her husband, Daryl of Pittsburgh, PA; a brother, James Fike of Chesterton, IN; a sister, Connie Esentrout of Oakland, MD; four grandchildren and one great grandchild. His services are 10:45 AM, Monday, August 10, 2009 at the Bay Pines VA National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd., Bay Pines, FL 33744 with Hospice Chaplin Dan Hummer, to officiate. Bill was a true gentleman and will be greatly missed. He was like sunshine; his smile warmed you and made your day brighter. He will be in our hearts and memories for as long as we live.
