Patricia M. Pettit, 79, of Clearwater, FL died Sunday August 9, 2009, at Hospice House Woodside, with her loving family at her bedside. A native of New York, NY, Patricia moved to St. Petersburg in 1975, after living in many parts of the United States, and also in Germany, during her husband’s military career. She was a member of St. Catherine of Sienna’s Catholic Church. Patricia was a retired school teacher, who taught for many years at St. Paul’s Catholic School in St. Petersburg, FL. She was also a guide for the International Museum in St. Petersburg, and a volunteer for the IRS. She enjoyed travel and sewing, and her family and friends treasure many gifts that she created. Patricia is survived by her husband of 57 years, Lewis W. Pettit; son Richard Pettit of Clearwater, FL and his wife Elaine Pettit; son John Pettit of Tampa, FL; daughter Catherine Reese of Huntsville, AL and her husband Jeff Reese; daughter Theresa Green of St. Petersburg, FL and her husband J. Patrick Green; six grandchildren: Nick, Mark, Heather, Harmony, Athena, Zoe; relatives Gisela Melvin, Jean Ann and Ray Sweeney, and many nieces and nephews.
The family will receive friends Sunday afternoon, August 16th, from 2:00PM until 4:00PM, at Veterans Funeral Care, 15381 Roosevelt Blvd, Clearwater FL 33760. A Funeral Mass for Patricia will be celebrated at 9:00AM, Monday August 17th, 2009, at St Catherine of Siena Catholic Church, 1955 South Belcher Road, Clearwater, FL. Burial will follow at 12:30PM at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.
In lieu of flowers, donations may be made to charity of choice, in memory of Patricia M. Pettit.

I will miss Pat very much. She was an important part of my life, through Florida International Museum, for the last 12 years. She was such a courageous lady! I am so sorry for your loss.
