By Henry Van Dyke,
I am standing upon the seashore. A ship at my side spreads her white sails to the morning breeze and starts for the blue ocean. She is an object of beauty and strength. I stand and watch her until at length she hangs like a speck of a white cloud just where the sea and sky come to mingle with each other.
Then someone at my side says: “There , she is gone!”
“Gone where?”
Gone from my sight. That is all. She is just as large in mast and hull and spar as she was when she left my side and she is just as able to bear her load of living freight to her destined port.
Her diminished size is in me, not her. And just at that moment when someone at my side says: “There she is gone!” There are others watching her coming, and other voices ready to take up the glad shout: “Here she comes!”
Those who have gone before Pat have welcomed her home!

Grandma,
I love you and miss you terribly. It isn’t fair that you had to go right now. There is so much you taught us, put up with, let us get away with and through it all, you still loved us no matter what. You need to give grandpa a hug for me. Tell him I think of him all the time. Craig has another special angel watching over him all the time now. You touched so many lives, especially your grandchildren. North Carolina will always be your 2nd home. You made it special, especially during our summers when we were kids. I love you grandma.
Grandma, I love you,and you will be missed by all who knew you. You shall live on in everyone you touched. You treated me as one of your own grandchildren, just as I thought of as my grandmother. I will miss you but you will always live in my heart. Love Marc
Grandma, I miss you so much. Mom and dad spread your ashes around the cabin by now. You are in Heaven looking down on all of us, watching us, and loving us from afar. Your ashes are resting all the wonderful grounds you feel in love with in NC. Grandma, I miss you so much. I think of you so much. Watch over Craig for me. He needs all of his angels like you.
grandma i love and will miss you terribly and i will always remember you as your spirit lives on in our hearts forever i love you grandma.
Grandma, I still miss you so much. I know that you are with GOD watching and trying to guide me through my life every day. There isn’t a day that something doesn’t remind me of you. Craig will be 18 this year. Wish you were here to celebrate. You will be in spirit and in our hearts. You will always be an angel with grandpa. Love you grandma and miss you.
