Richard J. Donovan, 85, of Largo, FL passed away at his residence and under the care of Hospice of the Florida Suncoast on August 20, 2009.
A native of Springfield, MA and a local resident, when he moved here from Agawam, MA; he was a retired Lithographer Pressman for Brooks Bank Note; attended St. Justin Catholic Church; a member of the American Legion and a US Air Force Veteran of World War II. During World War II, he served as an aviation cadet flying the T-6 “Texan” aircraft and his awards and decoration include the Good Conduct Medal, Victory Medal and the American Theater Medal.
Preceded in death by his parents, Thomas and Cecelia Donovan; a son, James Donovan and a brother, E. Thomas Donovan, Richard is survived by his loving family: a wife of 65 years, Louise Donovan; three sons: Richard Donovan, John Donovan and John's wife, Natalie and Michael Donovan and Michael’s wife, Christina; three daughters: Linda Armstrong and Linda’s husband, Robert; Joan Donovan and Marjorie Donovan; a sister, Eileen Barry and her husband, Dino; a sister-in-law, Francine Donovan; sixteen grandchildren; thirteen great grandchildren and numerous nieces and nephews.
Burial will be at Massachusetts State Veterans Cemetery, Agawam, MA.
