David B. Hitt, 62, TM1C, US Navy-Retired, of Lake Panasoffkee, FL died at the Villages Hospice House # 4 in Lady Lake, FL on September 12, 2009 from natural causes. His services are 12:30 PM, Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at the 1st Assembly of God Church, 2087 East County Road 470, Sumterville, FL 33586 with Pastor Daniel Richwine, to officiate. The family will receive friend at the church from noon (12:00 PM until service time. Graveside services and full military honors will be at 2:30 PM, Wednesday, September 23, 2009 at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, FL 33513 with the United States Navy Military Honors Funeral Team from Jacksonville Naval Air Station, Jacksonville, FL. A native of Richmond, VA and a local resident of Lake Panasoffkee, he was a retired US Navy Torpedo Man; a Christian and a Veteran of the Vietnam War. He served on the USS Orion, USS Fulton and the USS Simon Lake. He is survived by his wife, Harriet “Terry” Hitt of Lake Panasoffkee, FL; two sons; Eddie Hitt of Virginia and Carl Maeruber of Jackman, Maine; two daughters, Belinda Woods, and Deborah Naugher of Lake Panasoffkee, FL; two brothers, Bobby Hitt of Virginia and Ricky Hitt of Harn Lake, MA; a sister, Louise Belcher of Virginia and five grandchildren.
