James Joseph Comis, Sr., 80, of Tampa, FL, died Sept. 27, 2009 at Melech Hospice House, Temple Terrace.
Born in Rome, NY he moved her from Fulton, NY in 1969. He retired from Stadium Barber Shop in downtown St. Petersburg after more than 30 years there. Jim was an active member of St. Patrick Catholic Church, Tampa. He was a US Navy veteran of WWII and the Korean War. He enjoyed bowling, playing cards and Lotto and spending time at the Derby Lane Dog Track.
Survivors include his wife of 59 years, Mary; two sons, Jim Jr. (Dianna) of Zephyrhills, FL and John of Tampa; daughter, Lisa Marie (Cathy) of Tampa; two sisters, Theresa Krauf of CA and Mary Macri of Rome, NY; granddaughter, Nicole Comis; and great grandson, Aiden.
Family will receive friends at 10 AM on Friday, Oct. 2nd at St. Patrick Catholic Church, 4518 So. Manhattan Avenue, Tampa. A Mass for the repose of his soul will be celebrated at 11 AM with Father Angelus Migliore. Graveside services will follow with Military Honors at 2 PM at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell.
