Cary S. Fisher Jr., 90, of Lake Alfred, FL passed away on September 29, 2009 of heart failure. The memorial service is 11:00 AM, Saturday, October 3, 2009 at the First United Methodist Church, Haines Blvd. West in Lake Alfred with Pastor Matthew Hartsfield and Pastor Allen Brian officiating. The family will receive friends at the church on Saturday morning from 10:00 AM until service time. At the conclusion of the service, there will be a reception for family and friends in the fellowship hall. A native of Pittsburgh, PA and the son of Cary S. and Helen Fisher, Cary moved to the Lake Alfred area in 1952 from Carnegie, PA. He was a retired school teacher for Travis Vocational School and prior to becoming a teacher, he was a successful custom home builder. Cary was a gifted woodworking craftsman. As a teacher, his students learned to respect his abilities and many have remained long time friends. Throughout the years, Cary suffered from a childhood injury but his family, determination, and strong will to succeed in all of his endeavors was the driving force that kept him going. He was a member of First United Methodist Church in Lake Alfred. Cary was a family man who loved his wife, sons, daughter-in-laws, brother, sister, nieces, nephews and his extended family and friends, but the pride of his life was his two grandsons. Cary is survived by his wife of 65 years, Betty Fisher of Lake Alfred; two sons; David Fisher and his wife, Cindy of Charlotte, NC and Brent Fisher and his wife, Suzanne of St Petersburg, FL; a brother, John M. Fisher of Latrobe, PA; a sister, Nancy Woessner of Cleveland, OH and his two grandsons, Jason Fisher of St Petersburg, FL and Travis Fisher of Charlotte, NC. The family request that in lieu of flower, to please make a memorial donation to the First United Methodist Church of Lake Alfred, FL in the memory of Cary S. Fisher Jr.

Mr.Fisher you will be greatly missed but never forgotten. No matter how much pain you were in everytime I went to the lobby and pushed you in the wheelchair you were there to greet me with a smile. You were such a pleasure to be around. May god bless you. Rest in peace.

I have been touch with Pa Fish’s passage, and I hold you and all the family in my thoughts and prayers for many days into the future and beyound. I am truly sorry and wish there would be some small token I could do for you, Ma Fish. I would like very much for you to come to North Carolina one day very soon and hope you will. I understand that Travis will be with you for a while and I think this is good that he can do this. I hope you and he will be in North Carolin for the holidays of Thanksgiving and Christmas.
