In loving memory, William (Mickey) Tackett 6/3/1948 – 1/6/2010.
He resided in St. Cloud, FL and is survived by his loving wife, Bonnie Flippen Tackett; children Chad Tackett and Wendy Tackett Waggoner; and grandchildren Trent, Blake, Meghan and Tyler. In addition, he is survived by two sisters and four brothers. He is also survived by two uncles, several cousins, nieces and nephews. He is preceded in death by mother, Dottie Hall Wilkus.
After graduating Dan McCarty High School in Ft. Pierce, FL, Mickey was drafted into the US ARMY to serve active duty in Vietnam in the first division: “The Big Red One.” After being a decorated soldier, he received an honorable discharge and returned to civilian life in Ft. Pierce, FL. Mickey and his family moved to Vero Beach, FL to become a residential/commercial pool contractor. Later, he had the honor of contracting for Walt Disney World, Universal Studios, Sea World and many hotels. This led him to relocate to St. Cloud, FL where he lived his remaining life.
Mickey enjoyed all sports, including bowling, softball, fishing, hunting and golf. He loved to hunt in GA with his son, brothers, grandsons, and many loyal friends. He will be sadly missed by his family, his friends and his business associates.
A memorial service will be held at the VFW Hall in St. Cloud, FL on Sunday January 10, 2010 at 1 p.m. in his honor. In lieu of flowers, any contribution should be made to Bank of America/Bonnie Flippen Tackett, and will be greatly appreciated.
