Kilbreth Gary Flanagan, 66, of Largo, FL died at his residence on June 8, 2010 under the care of Hospice.
A native of Russell County, KY and a local resident since 1996, when he moved here from Louisville, KY; he was a electronics technician for the school board; a protestant and a United States Marine Corps Veteran of the Vietnam War. During his enlistment, Gary was awarded the National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal with 1 device; Vietnam Campaign Medal with 1 device and a Good Conduct Medal with 2 devices.
Born on October 9, 1943 in Russell County, KY, he is preceded in death by his parents: Orlis and Beatrice Doil and is survived by his caregiver and companion, Cheryl Kimberlin of Largo, FL; a son, John Flanagan of Roscoe, IL; a sister, Jerry York and her husband, Dick of Orangeboro, KY and two grandchildren: John and Kelsey Flanagan.
Burial will be private at Bay Pine VA National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd., Bay Pines, Florida 33744 on Friday, June 18, 2010.

Thank You for being a TRUE friend. We have known each other most of our lives and have many great memories. We have done some crazy things together, and always had a good laugh about them, including our “escapades” at the Board. You have been so good to us, and to our family. You are really a TRUE friend and we will never forget you.

Gary you were so much like a father to me .You were there for me when no-one else was you helped me with my homework and helped me maintain good grades through out schooling . You mean and meant the world to me & this has been hard for me to write even after so many year’s im still balling my eyes out rt now . I wish you could’ve met my children you would have loved them as they would’ve love you . You were the best person i could’ve asked for to be the presence in my life and because of you being there for me you changed my life so much . I love you and always will I was so young I never realized it but you were the dad and also father figure in my life i desperately needed . I still miss you as i have over all these year’s God definitely gained an amazing person & angel when he took you I love you Dad so very much I am not trying to offended no one especially your son or grand children but I just want you all to know that you all had an amazing dad and grand daddy with Gary cause he was an amazing soul the best person I could’ve asked for to enter into my life .I would ho on until I run out of room but am doing good to barely see past the tear’s that are streaming down my cheeks .
