Frederick S. Card, T/SGT-USAF-Retired-76, of Tampa, FL died at the Melech House, Temple Terrace, FL on Friday, July 9, 2010 from natural causes.
His graveside services are 2:00 PM, July 16, 2010, Friday, at Florida National Cemetery, 6502 SW 102nd Avenue, Bushnell, Florida 33513 with Reverend Skeet Mizell and the United States Air Force Honor Guard from Mac Dill AFB, Tampa, FL to officiate.
A native of Gloucester, MA and a local resident since 1970, when he moved here from Santa Clara, California; he was a retired military man that served our nation during the Korean and Vietnam War Eras. T/Sgt Card was of the Episcopal Faith and during his military career, he was awarded the Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 2 Oak Leaf Clusters; Air Force Good Conduct Medal with 3 Oak Leaf Clusters; Air Force Longevity Service Medal with 4 Bars and completed the Inventory Management Supervisors Course. After retiring from the United States Air Force, "Stan" went to work for GTE and retired after 20 years of service as a installer.
T/Sgt Card is survived by his wife of 50 years, Anna of Tampa, FL; four sons: Frederick S. Card Jr. and his wife, Patty of FT. Pierce, FL; Russell Card of Lantana, FL; James W. Card and his wife, Sanna of Nashua, NH; Roy Card and his wife, Carla of Odessa, FL; a daughter, Rhonda Mizell and her husband, Reverend Skeet Mizell of Brooksville, FL; four brothers, Alby Card; Sunny McDonald of New Port Richey, FL; Jimmy McDonald of Dracut, MA and Russell Card of Daytona, FL; two sisters: Betty Scola and Judy Williams, both of Gloucester, MA; eleven grandchildren and one great grandchild.

I did not personally know Stan; but being a USAFSS veteran , I accept him as a brother. My condolences to the famuily.
Although I never had the pleasure to meet Stan in person I did share emails with him ever since he joined our Det 2, 6910th Security Wing website. I will miss our communications on a number of subjects. Mike:0)

Stan and I are third cousins – his great grandfather[William Henry] was my great grandmother [Mary]’s oldest brother. We shared a passion for family history – via the internet as Florida is not very close to California and, each time he visited his father, we were off traveling elsewhere.
I hope to meet him sometime in the afterlife.
I look forward to seeing more photos as James finds them.

I am a Nova Scoatian from Stan’s ancestral Tanner home in North America…Lunenburg, NS…and will so miss corresponding with him via e-mail and comparing our genealogy files…he was a real treasure and such a willing and ready help in sorting out individuals. Stan was my nephew. He and I grew up together, I’ll miss the fights and the fun and the long lasting affection we held for each other. I have a lot of great memories from the old days and some great memories from the newer days. I’ll miss him sorely.
I am his grandaughter. He was my only grandpa and I am missing him terribly! I am very happy though that he got to hold his great grandaughter at least once before he left us. It will be a great story to tell her when she is older that her Opa held her and sang German songs to her. I love you Opa and we will see you again one day!
I was Stan’s supervisor at GTE and worked for many years together. He liked to joke and always spoke highly of his wife’s cooking and enjoyed working in his yard with his fruit trees.
I did not know Stan personally but we both shared email about our common Tanner ancestors. He will be missed greatly by all who had contact with him. Our prayers are with you in your time of sorrow.
We met while stationed together in Mindanao, Philippines, in 1971. Brothers in arms, we’ve remained in contact ever since. I will miss his good counsel and floods of emails.
Stan was one of my dearest friends.

I, too, am Stan’s third cousin (a Great Grand daughter of Mary CARD) & obsessed with the Genealogy hobby. My Husband, Edward, is also Retired USAF & he & Stan were stationed at the same Base in Germany in the late 50s. We never ran out of conversation when we were with him & Kathi! It hasn’t even been a week that I miss him so much. Things come up I want to share then I remember–sadness sets in. He is greatly missed!
I worked with Stan, at GTE for 19 yrs. I know Stan, was very interested in the geneology of his family.
We always had fun when we came to visit you in Tampa. You were always positive and fun to talk to. We will remember you always.

Tony and Stan met through the internet when searching for James Jeremiah Card (my mother’s a Card), and found a family tree on a Grand Manan genealogy site. It turns out we have a common great grandfather in Silas Card. We met Stan and Kathi just the once, when they visited us, here in Ottawa, but always remained in touch. Stan and Tony compared notes over the years, and we enjoyed his many e-mails with their humour, photo’s and always his warm connection to family and our shared roots that go way, way back. Sorry it took so long to send this. I’m a cousin on the Whynott side of the family. Stan showed me the genealogy.
I grew up with Sunny and Jim on Spring Street, and knew there was some connection between their families, but I didn’t know Stan until he came into my office (Gloucester City Clerk) to find more relatives. From that point on Stan came into the office every time he got back to Gloucester. I would ask one of the staff to find whatever ??Stan was looking for, while we talked for a couple of hours. I will always remember his impish smile, especially when he found a new branch of the family. He is one of a kind, and I’ll miss him.
