Morris “Ben” Stegall, 71, of St. Petersburg, Florida passed away on Saturday, September 11, 2010 at Edward White Hospital. He was born in Tuscaloosa, Alabama on April 10, 1939, the son of the late Clarence and Maybelle Johnson Stegall.
Ben enlisted in the US Air Force and served from 1956 to 1960, and resided in Texas, Indiana, and North Carolina before moving to St. Petersburg 25 years ago. He was employed for many years as a salesman for the clothing industry and later in the furniture business. Ben enjoyed cooking, gardening, hunting, fishing, and boating. He is survived by his wife, M. Gene Stegall of St. Petersburg; his sisters: Scarlet Rogers of St. Petersburg, Janis Shaw of Trinity, NC, and Sue Steed of Thomasville, NC; his brother, Jerry Miller of Lake City, FL; his daughters: Kathy of Texas, and Suzie and Lisa, both of Indiana; his son, George of Colorado; his step-daughter, Beverly of Florida; his step-grandson, Jeramy; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
Military honors are scheduled from Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, Florida on Friday, September 17, 2010 with Pastor Ron Evans and the MacDill Air Force Honors Team officiating.
Ben will be greatly missed, my thoughts and prayers to out to his wonderful Wife, Gene, and to his family.

We are so sorry for your loss of Ben. He was always giving when we came down. I will never forget all the fine cooking he did for us. When we moved in across the street from Ben and Gene, we didn’t know anybody in the area and the next thing we knew we had new friends in Ben and Gene. We will miss him. May God bless Gene with everything she needs.

We knew Ben for 2 years, but that was enough to know what a wonderful person he was. Gene, you are in our prayers. We have great memories of both of you!
Gene, we are so sorry that Ben is gone. He won’t be suffering with discomfort any longer. He is at peace. I enjoyed knowing Ben and waving to him as I drove down the street.
