David C. Zackary, 67, of Palm Harbor, FL passed away October 26, 2010 at Hospice House Brookside. He had been a patient at Moffitt Cancer Center since November 2008, and was recently transferred to Suncoast Hospice's.
David was born in Cortland NY in 1943. He graduated from Cortland High School, and attended Syracuse Business Institute during which time he was drafted into the U.S. Army in 1965. He received a Certificate of Achievement from General W. C. Westmoreland for Meritorious Performance of Duty in Vietnam during 1966 and 1967. He was honorably discharged from the Army in 1971.
David moved to Florida in 1983. He enjoyed a career in banking both in Pinellas and Pasco counties from 1984 to 2005. He enjoyed horseback riding, fishing, and various woodworking and handyman projects around the home.
David’s pride was most evident in his family who will miss him tremendously. He is survived by his wife of 28 years, Constance; his daughters, Denene (Jim) Pratt of Largo, Sonya Rowe of Clayton, NY, Colleen Axtell of Fort Pierce, FL, and Cathleen (Chris) Bennett of Lake Worth, FL; and seven grandchildren, Connor Zackary, Emily Rowe, Jenna, Jamie, and Jake Bennett, Brandon and Caitlyn Axtell.
A private Family Remembrance service will be held locally in mid-November.
