Charles K. Rankin, 85, passed away on Friday, November 5, 2010, at Westminster Suncoast Retirement Center in St. Petersburg, Florida.
Charles was born in Lynn, Massachusetts in 1925, the son of Harold D. and Mabel (Kidder) Rankin. He attended schools in Lynn, graduating from Lynn English High School in 1944. He served in the US Navy aboard a troop transport in the Pacific during World War II. Charles attended Burdett Business School in Lynn and later graduated from George T. Baker Aviation School on Miami, Florida.
He was employed at General Electric in Lynn, Massachusetts, and later at Eastern Airlines in Boston and then Miami, Florida, and he and his wife, June, travelled extensively. After retirement they lived in The Villages, Florida for seven years.
Charles was a 50-year member of the Bethlehem Masonic Lodge in Lynn, Massachusetts.
He is survived by his wife of 61 years, June M. (Hale) Rankin of St. Petersburg, Florida; his daughter, Diane Britt of Somersworth, NH; and four grandchildren: Dana Rankin of Los Angeles, CA, Susan Berthiaume of Dover, NH, Anna Berthiaume and Kayla Britt, both of Somersworth, NH. He is predeceased by his son, Thomas A. Rankin.
A memorial service was celebrated on Tuesday, November 9, 2010 at Westminster Suncoast Retirement Center.
