Donald Earl Jessen, 78, of Land O’ Lakes, FL, passed away Wednesday, November 24, 2010.
He had been a resident of Florida since the 1950s, including Orlando, Ft. Meade, and Tampa. He was born in Milwaukee, WI to Walter and Margaret Tatu Jessen. He received degrees in Accounting and Computer Science during his 32 year tenure with the US Post Office. Donald met the love of his life, Emma Lou Van Deusen in the Azores where he served with the US Air Force and she as a social director at the serviceman’s club.
She preceded him in death on December 28, 2002. Our Lord has now reunited them for eternity. He was also preceded by his great grandchildren, Devin and Alexis; and nine siblings, Margaret, Florence, Walter “Duke” Jr., Jack, Harry, Bob, Charles “Buzzard”, Charlotte, and an unnamed baby. Survivors include his daughter, Donna P. Wright; granddaughter, Jennifer E. Baker; great grandson, Benjamin Duncan; and four siblings, Leroy “Butch”, Larry, Martha “Alice” Roberts, and Jane Mellem.
Funeral arrangements with Veterans Funeral Care are pending and will take place at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL. In lieu of flowers, the family requests that donations be made to the South Lake Memorial American Legion, Post #55, 1063 West Desoto Street, Clermont, FL 34711.
