George E. Manias, 80, AF2-US Navy-Korean War Veteran, of Clearwater, FL died at the Belleair Health Care Nursing Facility, Clearwater, FL on December 5, 2010 from natural causes.
A native of Detroit, MI and a local resident since 1999, when he moved here from Pittsburgh, PA; he was a retired patent agent; a member of the Masonic Lodge (F&AM) and he was of the Greek Orthodox religion. During the Korean War, AF2 Manias served as a photographer and was awarded the Good Conduct Medal and the Navy Occupation Medal. He served aboard the USS Coral Sea (CVA 43).
He is survived by his wife of 57 years, Despina Manias of Clearwater, FL; a son, Emmanuel Manias and his wife, Cynthia of Columbus, OH; a daughter, Mary Ellen Stewart and her husband, Ted of Glenshaw, PA; a brother, Theodore Manias and his wife, Vivienne of Palm Harbor, FL; a sister, Maria Manias of Pittsburgh, PA and four grandchildren: Anthony Jones, Alexis Manias, Eric Manias and Alex Manias.
