George LaTullip, 87, passed away with his family at his side on January 11th 2011 at 0915 am. George along with his wife Helen of 57 years were the former owner/operators of Brandy Wine dry cleaners in Deland for 25 years. George is survived by his wife, Helen LaTullip; daughters Diana Woodford, Bonnie LaTullip, Celina LaTullip, and son David LaTullip and his wife, Debra LaTullip. George is also survived by his brother Florian Latulippe of Sarasota Fl. There are 6 grandchildren and 3 step-grandchildren as well as 7 great-grandchildren. George was born in East Broughton, Canada, but was an American citizen. He was the youngest of 11 children (eight boys and three girls). George served from 1942 to 1950 in the Merchant Marines and worked as a mechanic and engineer of boiler equipment. He kept the ship running! George traveled the world and had many interesting experiences and stories to tell. He was on a ship in the water during Normandy and his ship transported soldiers. He stated that he did not want to go to Hell because he has seen it. George was self employed in the dry cleaning business for over 40 years. He lived in Cincinnati, Ohio where he raised his children for several years but moved to Florida at the age of 60 and started a new business which he installed himself. He maintained his own equipment. He was a man of great integrity and character, a great husband, and a wonderful father. He will be missed more than words can say. Services will be held on Tuesday, January 18, 2011 at 2:30 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery, Bushnell, FL.

My dad, Florian, has lost his baby brother. He will always be remembered as a hard-working and ambitious entrepreneur just like my dad. He will be missed by both of us.
I have had the privilege of knowing George for 18 years. He was an honest man, a man of integrity. My husband David, George’s son, is no different. So George Latullip, you were successful in raising a fine descent man, just as yourself. May you rest in Peace.

I will miss my grandfather greatly. He loved his grandchildren and was always excited to take us places like the circus and the fair. Those were his favorites. He always had stories and corny jokes, but that’s why we love him. He will forever remain in my heart. Love you papae!!

Since Uncle George & I both had years in ship’s machinery rooms, telling each other sea stories was natural and always fun! He was a down to earth guy who was easy to be with. I’ve greatly enjoyed the years in Florida that have allowed us to get to know each other. I’ll miss you Mon Oncle.
Dad was always my rock of strength and my compass in life. He loved his family and he loved his life and he truly didn’t want to leave us no matter how much he was suffering. I am truly grateful I had him as my father and he will be with me always!
The greatest tribute I could give my Father is to raise my daughter with the same values and morals as my Father raised his children with. I remember when I was 18 and I had bought my first car. My car had broken down somewhere in downtown Cinci. When my Father and I went to retrieve the car it had a flat tire. My dad proceeded to remove all that was needed to change a flat tire from my trunk.I thought he was going to change the tire but then he looked at me and said what are you waiting for. He walked me through the process and I proceeded to change the tire. I have changed many a flat tire from that day on. The moral of the story is that my father raised all his children to be self reliant and enstilled the value of hard work and respect for others. I am the person I am today because of the guidance of my Father (and Mother). He made a life for himself and his family through hard work and perseverance and had many obstacles along the way but always pushed on.I have been blessed to have him in my life. I will love him always.
David, we are so sorry for your loss. Please know we have been thinking of you. You and your family continue to be in our prayers.
Uncle George traveled and saw many places, and when he came back to Maine he left behind a sock full of coins from different countries. My sister and I would spend hours looking at those. At our last visit he showed us a picture of himself at his wedding, dancing with his mom. I know my grandmother loved her “baby” because when I was born she insisted I be called “Georgette.” Gerry and I loved to hear him tell stories about his time in the Merchant Marines. He was a big presence in our lives and will be greatly missed. Of all his accomplishments in his life, I believe his best deed was to marry Helen. She’s been a blessing to him, to her family, and to all of us, her in-laws. We will miss you, Mon Oncle George.
I’ve been best of friends with Celina for 20 plus years now (ever since I told her that her dog was ugly ha!ha!) and since day one, it was very noticable that there were very strong work ethics and integrity. Hard work and honesty. That’s because she was raised by good parents with a strong foundation. So bless you both Mr. & Mrs. Latullip! You did a fine job!
Uncle George was my favorite uncle. He always made me feel very special and it started when I was just a little girl. He would be determined to get this shy, quiet, and fearful child into his lap and, he worked at it until I eventually came out from hiding behind the chair and onto his lap! Thank you Uncle George for helping me to trust. Thank you also for the Saturday morning phone calls you would make to me and we would talk about all kinds of things. Those times and conversations will remain in my heart forever! Love, Loanne

My father was a man of great wisdom. He taught me what is important in life. He would always stop to help anyone in need and quick to forgive and forget. Most of what I have learned from my father was by example. As a hospice RN I see this great generation dying off and it is sad to me. It truly was our greatest generation. He will be missed…
Knowing both Mr. and Mrs. LaTullip wasis a great honor. They raised a fine family and I have had the honor of knowing Celina ( my bestest friend ever!) for over 20 years. What I remember most about George was the day after I was married in 1989, they fixed the hat I wore in my wedding after I caught it on fire. They never let me forget that. I will miss his generosity and friendship, God Bless and Love ya’ll forever!
