Our “Hootey Hoo” is in Heaven. He will be deeply missed by many. He always put a smile on our faces and his will to live every day will forever live in our memories.
I met Erv in the early 1960’s as a young teenager. He was a former military pilot and member of the EAA and was building his own airplane. My passion was for aviation and he became a good mentor and friend. I ended up spending my life as a professional pilot. I would stop to see Erv over the years when I was in the area and we would catch up on the guys and chapter 47 of the EAA. He was a gentleman and a friend and I have thought about him often during the past 60+ years.
