Terry I. Platts, Chief, USAF-Retired has been working at Veterans Funeral Care since the beginning. He enlisted in the United States Air Force on September 17, 1962 and retired at Mac Dill AFB, Tampa, Florida on May 1, 1994. He was the Mission/Command/Wing Fire Chief. His duty assignments include basic training at Lackland AFB, Texas then assignments to Malmstrom AFB, Montana; Goose AB, Canada; Turner AFB, Georgia; Eglin AFB, Florida; Hurburt Field AFB, Florida; Cannon AFB, New Mexico and finally Mac Dill AFB, Florida where he retired. He had countless short tours (TDY) stateside and overseas.
Chief was born in Pittsburgh, PA and during his 30 years plus career in the USAF, his duty assignments were as an airborne firefighter on the HH43B helicopter, rescue man, hand lineman, turret operator, driver/engineer, Lieutenant, Captain, Training Chief, Inspector, Assistant Chief and in 1975 he was promoted to Chief, a position he held in grade for 19 years. His formal education included numerous military schools, technical school, licenses and two college degrees.
He is married to his high school friend and sweetheart, Karen Marie, and they have two sons and five grandchildren.
His spare time is spent traveling with his family and friends and making fond memories.
