Lewis R. Daniels-US Navy-Vietnam War Veteran

Daniels, Lewis Robert, “Uncle Lew”, 75

On Wednesday, November 30, 2016, Lewis Robert Daniels passed away, after a brave battle with Cancer.

Mr. Daniels was a third generation Tampa native , born on August 14,1941 to the late Cletia Lewis Daniels and Homer Robert Daniels Sr. Lewis was a loving son, brother, father ,uncle, grandfather and great grandfather.

He is survived by his daughter, Cara Daniels Naylor, son in law Nathan Naylor and daughter Jenny Ann Daniels.  Lewis has two surviving siblings Cletia Daniels Lowry and Homer Robert Daniels Jr.

He leaves behind a large family and a great host of lifelong friends.

“Uncle Lew” was a gifted artist, and photographer.  Being an avid sailor and a licensed Captain, he owned two sailboats at Davis Island Yacht club where he was a member for many years before joining Tampa Yacht and Country Club. In keeping with all things sea worthy, Lewis never missed a chance to enjoy the sunsets at the American Legion Post 138 in Port Tampa. He was an active participant, and quick to volunteer with any project.

Lewis loved driving on local road trips. He often went to the beach where he enjoyed flying kites, and using his metal detector. He frequented many yard sales always finding interesting, “Treasures”.  Mr. Daniels collected many items, including a plethora of Lava Lights of all shapes and sizes. Lewis cleverly created Lew’s Lava Light Lounge. It is where he was the perfect host and entertained many friends and family.

Lewis was funny, talented, gracious, eccentric, debonair and a true gentleman. He was handsome, and a great dancer. Mr. Daniels was fun to be around, and did his best to live life to the fullest.

Lewis graduated from HB Plant High School in 1961. He attended St. Petersburg Junior College, Hillsborough Community College and University of South Florida. He studied and received degrees in Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts and Drafting. Lewis worked at J.E Greiner

Company engineering firm, and later joined Delta Airlines where he retired after 24+ years of service.

Lewis was a U.S. Navy Veteran Serving Our Country on active duty during the Cuban Missile Crisis. He was assigned to the Attack Squadron 15 on board the Aircraft Carrier USS Franklin D. Roosevelt (CVB – 42) “Rosie”

Lewis had a full life, was exceedingly blessed and will be greatly missed by all.
