Daniels, Lewis Robert, “Uncle Lew”, 75
On Wednesday, November 30, 2016, Lewis Robert Daniels passed away, after a brave battle with Cancer.
Mr. Daniels was a third generation Tampa native , born on August 14,1941 to the late Cletia Lewis Daniels and Homer Robert Daniels Sr. Lewis was a loving son, brother, father ,uncle, grandfather and great grandfather.
He is survived by his daughter, Cara Daniels Naylor, son in law Nathan Naylor and daughter Jenny Ann Daniels. Lewis has two surviving siblings Cletia Daniels Lowry and Homer Robert Daniels Jr.
He leaves behind a large family and a great host of lifelong friends.
“Uncle Lew” was a gifted artist, and photographer. Being an avid sailor and a licensed Captain, he owned two sailboats at Davis Island Yacht club where he was a member for many years before joining Tampa Yacht and Country Club. In keeping with all things sea worthy, Lewis never missed a chance to enjoy the sunsets at the American Legion Post 138 in Port Tampa. He was an active participant, and quick to volunteer with any project.
Lewis loved driving on local road trips. He often went to the beach where he enjoyed flying kites, and using his metal detector. He frequented many yard sales always finding interesting, “Treasures”. Mr. Daniels collected many items, including a plethora of Lava Lights of all shapes and sizes. Lewis cleverly created Lew’s Lava Light Lounge. It is where he was the perfect host and entertained many friends and family.
Lewis was funny, talented, gracious, eccentric, debonair and a true gentleman. He was handsome, and a great dancer. Mr. Daniels was fun to be around, and did his best to live life to the fullest.
Lewis graduated from HB Plant High School in 1961. He attended St. Petersburg Junior College, Hillsborough Community College and University of South Florida. He studied and received degrees in Hospitality Management, Culinary Arts and Drafting. Lewis worked at J.E Greiner
Company engineering firm, and later joined Delta Airlines where he retired after 24+ years of service.

My heart felt condolences to both Lewis’s daughters, Cara & Jenny, and to Cletia & Homer. Lewis was a wonderful friend & I will miss him very much. He brightened many mornings at breakfast up at Pipo’s and I enjoyed his visits when he was on his beach runs.
Lewis was always such a kind person. He will not be forgotten. He was fun, & a great host at his home. He made going at work, Delta Airlines, a fun place to be. Always professional. You will be missed.
Lewis and I were friends for over 50 years.Together we fished and hunted, drank and partied, raced sail boats, traveled and generally had some really good times. I considered him to be my best friend and I miss him already.
Miss you already Lewis! Great guy , always enjoyed time with him! Love to Cara! Julian
My most sincere condolences to Cara and Jenny, Cletia and Homer Jr. Lewis and I were best of friends for more than 50 years. I was and remain proud to be Cara’s godfather.
Lewis and I enjoyed many great times camping, fishing, sailing, traveling, and spending too much time having fun.

Lewis and I were friends for over 40 years and we shared many fond memories together. The beach runs were the latest adventure we shared, just 2 weeks ago. Lewis could always be depended on and was a loyal, true friend. I will miss his gentle ways and kind heart. My deepest sympathy to all his family and friends. He will truly be missed.
My sincerest condolences to the family, which I met yesterday at the memorial service.
Having known Lewis since probably elementary, he always was a very likeable person, although we never ran together, we would run into each other at different times and catchup on many things, that I truly enjoyed doing with Lewis.
After not seeing him for a while and hearing from Laura Ann that he had cancer, I stopped by his house a few times to see him, before having to leave town.
Sharing our interest of these Lava Lights and enjoying the visits in the lava Light Lounge, he asked me which one I would like. I chose one that I have at home and reminding me of Lewis and the good memories we shared when we ran into each other.
I will truly miss those visits.
