Lydia Cammarota Rivers, 88, of Largo, Florida, passed away on July 24, 2018, at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Florida. She was born in Schenectady, New York and had lived in Pinellas County for many years.
Growing up in New York, she came from a large Italian family with twelve children. In her younger years, she loved to roller skate, ride her bicycle, etc. She and her husband would return to New York often with their Family. In June 2005, she along with her Brother, James, Sisters, Louise and Betty; her Nieces and Nephew, Mary Ann, Debbie, Nancy, and Pete, traveled to Italy, where her father’s birthplace was, and also traveled from Rome to Florence and more in Italy.
Lydia and her husband were inseparable and she followed in his footsteps. They enjoyed spending time with one another and, as they had their own children, they adored them. They had many friends over the years they were together and her best friend was Norma. She and her husband also enjoyed watching game shows on television.
She loved to read her Bible and enjoyed attending First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks. Lydia loved to eat and the family would often have big dinners on Sundays. Her favorite place to eat, away from home, was Olive Garden. As the grandchildren were born, she loved spending time with each of them.
She was preceded in death by her Parents, Joseph and Rachel Cammarota; her Husband, Danuil Rivers; Brothers, James, Samuel and Thomas; and her Sisters, Theresa, Mary, Viola, Jenny and Margaret. She is survived by her sons, Danuil, Jeffrey and Richard; daughter, Sheri Hopkins, sisters, Betty Humphreys, Frances Dox and Louise Franchetti; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and many friends.
A Public Visitation will commence at 10:ooAM on Friday, August 3, 2018, at the First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks, 12685 Ulmerton Road, Largo, FL, 33774. A Funeral Service will follow at 10:30AM. She will be interred at First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks Memorial Gardens following the service.

Mom,
I am so very pleased with everything you taught me in life, there is no way to explain the emotional bond that we shared, your dedication to Christ has your cup overflowing with joy, your faith has brought me closer to Christ. Although your passing was too soon, your work in God’s service here on earth has been completed and he has called you home. Well done, you fought the good fight. I will miss our daily calls we had. Someday we will see eachother again in Heaven. In closing I will treasure your lessons of faith and will do my very best to put on the full armor of God each day.

Dear Rivers family,
My heart is broken that my sister has gone on, but we know she’s in a better place. I’m fortunate to have spent so much time in Florida with Lydia, for that I’m very grateful. It was because of Lydia and Bud that John and I decided to become snowbirds. John and I spent so much tjme with Lydia , Bud, and their family. Every Sunday at Olive Garden brought so much laughter! Everyone knew Bud and Lydia, and loved them together! Until we meet again, at the pearly gates! Love sister Betty
To my beautiful mother who always wanted the best for her children. You were always protective of me growing up and I’m thankful for you and dad for that. My heart is broken but I know you are with dad again. I will miss talking to you on the phone and hearing about your day. I’m grateful for all the memories I have and I know you are with me everyday.
I love you mom so very much, Love, Sheri

aunt lydia was a loving and caring lady. She was loved and will be missed by her family.Tom and Colleen
Danny, Richey, Jeff, Sheri and family – Sorry to hear about the passing of your mother. She was such a wonderful lady. I have very fond memories growing up down the street that she distilled in all of us. One thing this wonderful lady did was not give up on us as young adults. Heaven will up their arms for you and welcome you in, you’ve done your part in the world and now its time for you to rest.
So much I could say about Aunt Lydia. My childhood was surrounded by laughter happy times and great food. Aunt Lydia and Uncle Bud were always in the middle of all those times of memory. Richey, Danny, Shari and Jeff my prayers are with you. Your grief is shared. Heaven is now a bit brighter because Aunt Lydia has made her debut there, welcomed by the open arms of the King of Kings!
I will miss my dear friend Lydia but I know I will see her again in heaven. I know she is at peace with our heavenly Father and reunited with her beloved Bud.
We are saddened to hear of Lydia’s call to Heaven, but we KNOW that she is with her Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ and is singing His praises! She loved the Lord and wasn’t afraid to tell others about him. We miss Dan and Lydia after being our neighbors for 36 years before moving to Oak Manor ALF. Even with her memory challenges, Lydia could remember our phone number.Dan and Lydia welcomed our 8-year-old grandson,Spencer, into their home from the time he was a baby until they moved. We took him to visit them at Oak Manor, which was good for all of us! We know we will see both of them in Heaven one day. May God grant peace and comfort to the Rivers family.
Grandma there are not many words to describe how I am feeling. I am grateful you lived a long and happy life surrounded by those who love you. I am glad we had the opportunity to spend time with you last month and for you to have the chance to meet your second great grandchild. I am filled with many positive memories of spending time with you and grandpa when I was growing up. You had such a big heart. I will miss you but am comforted knowing you are with Grandpa again. Love you!!!
