Lydia Cammarota Rivers

Lydia Cammarota Rivers, 88, of Largo, Florida, passed away on July 24, 2018, at Morton Plant Hospital in Clearwater, Florida.  She was born in Schenectady, New York and had lived in Pinellas County for many years.

Growing up in New York, she came from a large Italian family with twelve children. In her younger years, she loved to roller skate, ride her bicycle, etc. She and her husband would return to New York often with their Family. In June 2005, she along with her Brother, James, Sisters, Louise and Betty; her Nieces and Nephew, Mary Ann, Debbie, Nancy, and Pete, traveled to Italy, where her father’s birthplace was, and also traveled from Rome to Florence and more in Italy.

Lydia and her husband were inseparable and she followed in his footsteps. They enjoyed spending time with one another and, as they had their own children, they adored them. They had many friends over the years they were together and her best friend was Norma. She and her husband also enjoyed watching game shows on television.

She loved to read her Bible and enjoyed attending First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks. Lydia loved to eat and the family would often have big dinners on Sundays. Her favorite place to eat, away from home, was Olive Garden. As the grandchildren were born, she loved spending time with each of them.

She was preceded in death by her Parents, Joseph and Rachel Cammarota; her Husband, Danuil Rivers; Brothers, James, Samuel and Thomas; and her Sisters, Theresa, Mary, Viola, Jenny and Margaret.  She is survived by her sons, Danuil, Jeffrey and Richard; daughter, Sheri Hopkins, sisters, Betty Humphreys, Frances Dox and Louise Franchetti; eight grandchildren; two great-grandchildren; many nieces and nephews and many friends.

A Public Visitation will commence at 10:ooAM on Friday, August 3, 2018, at the First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks, 12685 Ulmerton Road, Largo, FL, 33774. A Funeral Service will follow at 10:30AM. She will be interred at First Baptist Church of Indian Rocks Memorial Gardens following the service.
