Paul Petervary

Paul Petervary, a resident of Clearwater, FL, and former resident of Huntington Station, NY, passed away on October 19, 2021 in Clearwater, FL at the age of 84. Mr. Petervary was born in Opalyi, Hungary on April 9, 1937 to Miklos and Margit (Bendzsa), and attended a Franciscan High School in Esztergom.  He escaped the post WWII soviet occupation of Hungary and arrived in the United States in 1956.  He then proudly served in the United States Army and became a naturalized citizen. Paul married Frances (Kremenich) in 1964, and completed a Masters degree in mechanical engineering from Brooklyn Polytechnic.

Mr. Petervary worked as a mechanical engineer at various companies over the next 35 years. During his career and in retirement, he contributed back to the community as a member of the Elks Lodge and Moose Lodge, donor to Sun Coast Hospice and Catholic Charities, and as an active member of his catholic communities at St. Catherine of Siena RC church in Clearwater, FL and St. Elizabeth of Hungary RC church in South Huntington, NY.

Paul was an avid golfer and traveler. He was also an active tinkerer, often helping family, neighbors, and friends with home and automotive structural, electrical, and plumbing repairs…’everything was fixable if you had the patience’ and he enjoyed the challenge. He will be greatly missed.

Paul Petervary is survived by his wife Frances, and many nephews, nieces, cousins, their spouses and children, in-laws and lifelong friends.

Funeral Services will be held at St. Catherine of Siena Church, Clearwater Florida on Tuesday November 23, 2021 at 11:00 am, followed by interment at Bay Pines National Cemetery in St. Petersburg, FL.
