Donald Lee Tanner Sr. Was born in St Louis Mo. 6/4/1931. He died 1/26/2022. Don was very proud to serve our country as a decorated Artillery-Man in the Army during the Korean War.
He began his working life in factories and foundries in St Louis. He was an avid hunter and fisherman and moved to Fla in 1971 to start a concrete company Dixie Precast. He and his son Don had several concrete companies and a tropical fish farm.
Don is survived by his loving wife of 67 years Lily Ray Tanner, his oldest son Donald Jr., daughter in law Vikki Tanner, grandchildren Kevin, Rebecca, Holly, Luke, Kelli, and Emily. His son Robert Tanner proceeded him in death, Robert’s widow, Nikki Tanner, grandchildren Sara, Lizzy, and Robby. Finally, his youngest son Chris, daughter in law Connie Tanner and grandson Stefen.
His last few years were fraught with many physical and mental challenges but he faced them bravely and truly lived till he died. He will be deeply missed by all of us.
A Celebration of Life to be held 11 am Saturday, February 12, 2022 at Gulfcoast Church, 13301 Walsingham Road, Largo, Florida with Pastor Randy Morris officiating.
Don will be laid to rest privately at Florida National Cemetery with family in attendance.
Dad will surely be missed.. thoughts and prayers to all.. may his memory be eternal…
