Edward John Shea, fondly known as “Pops,” passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026, in Largo, Florida, at the age of 83.
Born in New York City on February 21, 1943, to Thomas and Catherine Shea, his passion for aviation began at an early age. He pursued this calling by graduating from Aviation High School and serving seven years in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. Above all, Ed cherished his family. He built a devoted life with his beloved wife, Lynn Marie Taylor, and together they raised their children, Laurel and Scott. Renowned for his warmth and quick humor, Pops was the light of family gatherings, always striving to bring a smile to those around him.
Ed is survived by his wife, Lynn; children, Laurel (and husband Michael) and Scott (and wife Jamey); grandchildren, Delaney, Katie, and Taylor; sister, Judy; and many cherished nieces and nephews. He was precede in death by his parents and brother, Thomas.
Ed’s steady presence, kindness, and joyful spirit will be deeply missed.
