Edward John Shea, fondly known as “Pops,” passed away peacefully on August 11, 2026, in Largo, Florida, at the age of 83.
Born in New York City on February 21, 1943, to Thomas and Catherine Shea, his passion for aviation began at an early age. He pursued this calling by graduating from Aviation High School and serving seven years in the U.S. Air Force Reserve. Ed went on to dedicate his career to aircraft maintenance with commercial airlines, ensuring the highest standards of safety and precision.
Above all, Ed cherished his family. He built a devoted life with his beloved wife, Lynn Marie Taylor, and together they raised their children, Laurel and Scott. Renowned for his warmth and quick humor, Pops was the light of family gatherings, always striving to bring a smile to those around him.
Ed is survived by his wife, Lynn; children, Laurel (and husband Michael) and Scott (and wife Jamey); grandchildren, Delaney, Katie, and Taylor; sister, Judy; and many cherished nieces and nephews. He was precede in death by his parents and brother, Thomas.
Ed’s steady presence, kindness, and joyful spirit will be deeply missed.
It is with a heavy heart I send my condolences. Ed had a way of touching everyone’s heart with his sense of humor & integrity. Time spent with or around him was always peaceful. He will be dearly missed by many. A very honest, good man. May God be with you at this sad time.

Dear Lynn,
It just won’t be the same for me and his aviation pals anymore. I pray that you and your family will have the strength to needed to get through this difficult time and that my friend Ed is resting in peace .
Ed was a good man who worked hard all his life for his family keeping others safe while cherishing his family and friend throughout his life. I really miss him and I will miss him the remainder of my life.

Have the extended family of the man known as Pops for over 30 years we were always greeted with a warm smile, a joke, or just a general comment about something that was going on.
Always making us comfortable as we discussed football, NASCAR, and anything with aviation or our grandchildren! His two children and his grandchildren were the light of his life as of course, was Lynn.
He made a mark on all those that he meet.

Lynn, so sorry for the hearing of the passing of Eddie. He was a kind man that always did the right thing.
I didn’t really have enough time with him to enjoy his company, he seemed to be working a bit lot when he was younger.
