Stephanie Kane Lukaszewicz, 78, of Safety Harbor, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, at Suncoast Hospice Care Center in Palm Harbor, Florida.
Stephanie was born on November 25, 1947, in Orange, New Jersey. She was a loving wife, mother, and Nonna who cared deeply for her family. She had a kind and caring heart, a special love for animals, and was always happiest helping others.
Being Nonna was one of Stephanie’s greatest joys. She adored her three grandchildren and treasured the time spent with them. She had a well-known sweet tooth and always saved room for dessert. She loved to travel both near and far, cherishing the adventures and memories shared with family.
Stephanie spent much of her career in the insurance industry. Later in life, she began volunteering at Mease Countryside Hospital and eventually became team manager, helping establish Guest Services as a full-time department. She loved being able to help people and make a difference.
Stephanie’s life was also marked by incredible strength. After being diagnosed with mesothelioma, a rare and devastating cancer, she went on to survive for more than 20 years. Her remarkable journey became a medical success story at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center and was nothing short of a miracle to those who loved her. When the cancer returned, she faced it once again with tremendous courage and determination.
Stephanie leaves behind her husband, George Lukaszewicz; her daughter, Jennifer Morris, Jennifer’s husband, Marvin, and granddaughter, Charlton. She also shared a loving bond with George’s daughter, Lauren Baerg, Lauren’s husband, Kevin, and granddaughters, Alyssa and Grace; her stepson, Brock Lukaszewicz; and stepdaughters from a previous marriage, Sharon DiNatale, Charmain O’Mara, and Susan Reale.
Stephanie was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Adrienne Kane, and her sister, Susan Schallis.
A celebration of Stephanie’s life will be held in the spring, with details to be shared at a later date.
