Stephanie Kane Lukaszewicz, 78, of Safety Harbor, Florida, passed away peacefully on July 21, 2026, at Suncoast Hospice Care Center in Palm Harbor, Florida.
Stephanie was born on November 25, 1947, in Orange, New Jersey. She was a loving wife, mother, and Nonna who cared deeply for her family. She had a kind and caring heart, a special love for animals, and was always happiest helping others.
Being Nonna was one of Stephanie’s greatest joys. She adored her three grandchildren and treasured the time spent with them. She had a well-known sweet tooth and always saved room for dessert. She loved to travel both near and far, cherishing the adventures and memories shared with family.
Stephanie spent much of her career in the insurance industry. Later in life, she began volunteering at Mease Countryside Hospital and eventually became team manager, helping establish Guest Services as a full-time department. She loved being able to help people and make a difference.
Stephanie’s life was also marked by incredible strength. After being diagnosed with mesothelioma, a rare and devastating cancer, she went on to survive for more than 20 years. Her remarkable journey became a medical success story at UT MD Anderson Cancer Center and was nothing short of a miracle to those who loved her. When the cancer returned, she faced it once again with tremendous courage and determination.
Stephanie leaves behind her husband, George Lukaszewicz; her daughter, Jennifer Morris, Jennifer’s husband, Marvin, and granddaughter, Charlton. She also shared a loving bond with George’s daughter, Lauren Baerg, Lauren’s husband, Kevin, and granddaughters, Alyssa and Grace; her stepson, Brock Lukaszewicz; and stepdaughters from a previous marriage, Sharon DiNatale, Charmain O’Mara, and Susan Reale.
Stephanie was preceded in death by her parents, Stephen and Adrienne Kane, and her sister, Susan Schallis.
A celebration of Stephanie’s life will be held in the spring, with details to be shared at a later date.
In lieu of flowers, those wishing to honor Stephanie may make a donation to UT MD Anderson Cancer Center, P.O. Box 4486, Houston, TX 77210-4486 or MDAnderson.org/Gifts

In Loving Memory of Stephanie
Stephanie was truly an amazing woman—a loving wife, a devoted mother, a cherished grandmother, and, most importantly to me, a wonderful friend and neighbor.
Over the past eight years, I was incredibly fortunate to know Stephanie and to share so many special moments with her. We spent countless nights laughing until our sides hurt, enjoying good food and a glass of wine, and sharing stories about our lives. Those moments may have seemed simple at the time, but they have become some of the most precious memories I will carry with me.
Stephanie had a remarkable way of making life feel a little brighter. Somehow, whenever we spent time together, I always walked away feeling happier, more grateful, and more amazed by life. That was just the kind of person she was. She had a beautiful ability to leave people feeling better simply because she had been a part of their day.
I am deeply saddened that she is no longer with us, but alongside that sadness is an overwhelming sense of gratitude. I am grateful that our paths crossed. I am grateful for the friendship we shared. And I am especially grateful that I had the privilege of spending these precious last eight years knowing her, laughing with her, and sharing life with her.
Stephanie will always have a special place in my heart. She will live on in the countless memories that bring a smile to my face and in the stories I will continue to remember and share.Even the ones about Halloweens of the past.
Although saying goodbye is incredibly difficult, I choose to hold onto the joy of having known such a remarkable woman.
Until we meet again, Stephanie. You will never be forgotten.
