Joseph W. Waters, 76, Captain-Tampa Fire Department-Retired passed away at the James A. Haley VA Hospital, Tampa, FL on August 28, 2007 of natural causes. A Tampa, FL native; a US Marine Corps Veteran of the Korean War; a member of 1st Free Will Baptist Church and a former member of the Tampa Fire Department, assigned to Tampa International Airport Station, Joseph is survived by his loving family: a wife, Marjorie of Seffner, FL; a son, Christopher Waters of Seffner, FL; four daughters: Kitty Ezell and her husband, Jerry of Plant City, FL; Susan Cordell and her husband, John of Dover, FL; Bonnie Marie Frier and her husband, Allen of Ellijay, GA and Polly Waters of Seffner, FL; eight grandchildren and twelve great grandchildren. Funeral services are 11:00 AM, Friday, August 31, 2007 at the 1st Free Will Baptist Church, Corner of US 92 and State Road 579, Seffner, FL 33584 with the family receiving friends at the church from 10:00 AM until service time. The family requests that in leiu of flowers, to please make a donation to the Seffner Christian Academy in the memory of Joseph W. Waters.

Sincere condolences. Captain Waters was one of my first and best Captains. He was a super nice, caring, people person who was a pleasure to work under. He was never too busy to take his time to help a “rookie” and always humble enough not to flaunt his authority. I was honored and priveledged to have had him in my life as a child and will always cherish the memories of playing at your house growing up.
