Joseph William Maloney, 75 of Seminole, FL passed July 26, 2020 at Hospice in Pinellas Park (Woodside) after many years with Lewy Body Disease.
Joe was born September 28, 1944 in Boston, Massachusetts to Roland and Louise Maloney. His greatest joy came on April 24, 1982 when he married Denise at the Kapok Tree Restaurant and Gardens on Madeira Beach, FL. Denise would be by his side for the rest of his life.
Joe leaves behind a loving family including a son, Joseph T.; daughters Laura DaCosta and Milissa (Chance) Hoffman; brother James (Vickie) Maloney; step-children Ronald Whitney and Jennifer (Joseph) Halligan; and the grandchildren Madisyn, Clayton, Sarah, Shawn, Dylan, Maddy, Claire, Corbin, Patrick and Austin who he loved so very much. Also missing him as survivors are many uncles and aunts, nephews and nieces and cousins; Tom, Kevin and the Toon family who he considered his second family and last but not least, his furry companion Gypsy who was beside Joe to the end.
He was predeceased by his father Roland, mother Louise, brothers Tom (Mary) and Rick, sister Rita (Dan) Shreve.
Joe served in the US Army during Vietnam, was quickly promoted to Private First Class and was a disabled veteran for over 50 years. Joe loved singing, walking, playing poker. His home-games poker buddies were very dear to him. Joe’s sense of humor will be remembered by all who knew him. His quick wit could make you laugh until your cheeks hurt! He also had a brilliant brain and math came quite easily for him.
The family wishes to thank Bay Pines Veteran’s Hospital, the psychiatric ward and endless physicians, nurses and various other staff members. He was given excellent care for many years.
Denise would like to thank her dear friend Arlene Barton. Arlene had experienced Alzheimer’s Disease with her own husband. Arlene took Denise’s hand and guided her through many years of sorrow and pain as Denise and Joe made their long journey through to the end.
All are invited to his final goodbye and memorial service on August 18, 2020 at 9:30 AM at Bay Pines National Cemetery where military honors will be performed by the US Army Funeral Honors Team.
We have known Joe for many years and he has been a part of our family since day one. He will be truly missed. Condolences to his family.

Patty Sanchez and I send our most heart felt condolences to Denise and family. Joe was a dear friend to both of us and we cherish the times spent with him. Especially at the Suwannee music festivals. Joe was such a sincere, good-hearted, generous, intelligent, and entertaining guy. We are sad but thankful he is now at peace. Love you Joe.

When Joe visited our family, you knew that laughter and fun were coming in the door! I will always cherish our great times. He really helped my family get through grief when my dad died. I will forever crack up laughing when I think of the time Joe, myself and sister Kathy “performed” our rendition of a very popular Broadway musical…..in my mom’s driveway! An amazing personal memory.
Strength and Love to all his family and many friends.
Rolland and I send our most heart felt condolences to Denise, Joe’s family, and to his extended Suwannee Family. Joe became a dear friend to both of us and we treasure the times we spent with him camping at the Suwannee music festivals, especially in the evenings telling tales around the campfire! Joe you will most definitely be missed. Fare thee well our friend.

I did not meet Joe until 3 years ago at the facility where my husband also lived. At that time I was still able to get a glimmer of the man that he was. Joe always had a few words to say and a song to sing whenever he saw you. What an amazing personality he must have had, what wonderful memories he has left.
Love you Denise.
Arlene
My favorite Uncle Joe. He will always hold a place in my heart. I was so grateful to be in Denise and Joseph Wedding and spending a whole entire summer with them. Joe and I had the same passions for sports tennis and golf etc. Everything I have learned from my Uncle I have carried out in life and use my mathematics skills to the extreme. My prayers are with My Auntie Denise and family that Jesus by the power of the holy spirit comforts them always and forever in Jesus name I pray amen. My Deepest Sympathy Love always Heidi
