Alice Louise (Trish to her husband and her friends) Erdoesy, 94, of Clearwater, Florida, left us for Heaven on Friday, November 8, 2013 from her daughter’s home in Clearwater. Born in Hempstead New York, she put her faith in Christ at age 12. Trish graduated from Hempstead High and Cornell University School of Business, commuted into New York City to work as stenographer during the War, married her high school sweetheart, Franklin, her husband of 57 years, and then came with him to Clearwater in 1948 to build her home and life.
Trish worked in the early years as radio announcer Susan Kent for Clearwater radio station WCLE until their daughter, Linda arrived. Trish enjoyed and was enjoyed by many as she and the family traveled throughout the country camping from Florida to Alaska and Canada. Her favorite place was Lake Louise, in Banff, Alberta, Canada where she hiked to the summit of Point of Six Glaciers, never avoiding an adventure. It was not infrequently she could be seen in the campground behind Franklin on his motorcycle with their dog Sissy in a box up front and Linda behind. Sitting around a campfire was among her favorite things to do. She loved hummingbirds and butterflies, palm trees and Florida sunsets.
Trish served as 4-H leader while Linda was growing up, was President of the Clearwater Ladies of the Elks the same year she coordinated Linda’s wedding. She was a member of Clearwater Chapter of the Ladies Aglow, and active in the Clearwater Garden Club, all while looking after her own parents, Edna and Gus Roepke who joined the family in Florida from New York. Trish was also faithful to her church family and was most recently in attendance at Countryside Christian Center, in Clearwater. It was easy to see that she loved to worship God, a heritage of hope to her family.
She delighted by her grandchildren and her eleven great grandchildren, stood for hours at the nursery window watching joyously her first granddaughter, Cheryl. Christmas’s and Thanksgiving gatherings were a grand affair where she loved the laughter and the squeals of the little ones. She enjoyed a good meal. Known to everyone as a gentle woman, always putting others first, kind, easy to talk to, Trish was an example of an honorable daughter, faithful wife, loving mother and excellent keeper of her home. In fact, her name Alice means “honorable” and that she was. And she will be greatly missed.
Trish is survived by her daughter, Linda Mihalinec of Clearwater, Florida and her children Cheryl Mihalinec Moore, of Land O Lakes, and her husband Matt and their seven children, Mark Mihalinec, Clearwater, and his wife Nickie and their two sons and Eric Mihalinec, of Largo, and his wife Lindsay and their son and daughter, as well as her niece Margaret Roepke McQuade, of Spring Hill and her family.
Family will gather intimately at a graveside service at Sylvan Abbey and will celebrate her life on Wednesday, November 20 with family and friends at 2pm at Linda’s home at 1237 Union Street, Clearwater, Florida. In lieu of flowers, the family would appreciate and requests donations to the disaster relief organization Crisis Response International: Us. Address: P.O.
