Allen E. Davidson, 65-Retired Lt. Col. US Army- and decorated Vietnam War Veteran passed away January 31, 2012 at the Suncoast Hospice-Bayfront in St Petersburg, FL. After a long and heroic battle from service related issues.

A native of Indianapolis, IN , Allen resided in St Petersburg, FL after retiring from the US Army, Central Command at Mac Dill AFB, Tampa, FL. Allen had a Bachelors Degree from the University of Nebraska at Omaha and a MBA. As a young boy, he was a member of the Boy Scouts of America. He was a Master Councillor of the DeMolay, Masonic Order 669;  Master Mason, a member of the Indianapolis Valley of the Scottish Rite, a member of the Egypt Shrine Temple, the Shrine association and Egypt Shrine Motor Corp, Commodore of the St Pete Sailing Association and Commander of AmVets Post 1. He was a Baptist and after his retirement from the US Army, he formed his own company, AED Woodcraft. He was an avid sailor, an accomplished musician, a wonderful dance partner and loved riding his motorcycle, “Davidson Harley” on cross country trips with his friends.

 

During Lt. Colonel Davidson military career, he was awarded the Legion of Merit; Bronze Star Medal; Defense Meritorious Medal; Meritorious Service Medal; Air Medal with 10 devices; US Army Commendation Medal with 1 Oak Leaf Cluster; US Army Achievement Medal; National Defense Service Medal; Vietnam Service Medal with 3 Bronze Service Stars; US Army Service Ribbon; Overseas Service Ribbon; Republic of Vietnam Campaign Medal with 60 devices; Senior Army Aviation Badge; Master Army AviationBadge; Overseas Bar with 2 devices; Republic of Vietnam Gallantry Cross with Palm and the Army Aviation Badge.  His campaigns were the Vietnam Counteroffensive Phase IV; Vietnam Counteroffensive Phase V and the Vietnam Counteroffensive Phase VI with tours in Vietnam from 1967 thru 1968 and Korea from 1979 thru 1981.  Lt. Colonel Davidson attended the Armor Officer Candidate School; Rotary Wing Aviator Course; Armor Officer Advanced Course; Armor Officer Career Course; Command and General Staff College. 

He was a friend to all people from all walks of life and never turned anyone away in need of help. Allen was especially proud of his two daughters and grandchildren as he felt their accomplishments were the best reflection on him as a father and grandfather.

Allen is survived by his wife, Elizabeth of St Petersburg, FL; daughter Wendy and son-in-law, Bill; daughter, Toni and four grandchildren. He is also survived by his mother and friend, Novice Davidson and siblings, Ron, Becky and Tom.
