Alma Marie (Almarie) nee Gaskins Muething died March 30 at Bon Secours Place in St. Petersburg, Florida, surrounded by her loving family. She was 91. Almarie was born in Owen County, Kentucky, the oldest child of Arthur Frank and Zula Gaskins.
She married Richard Joseph Muething on September 3, 1949, in Cincinnati, Ohio. Their honeymoon was their move to St. Petersburg where they have lived since that time.
Almarie was predeceased by her parents and her siblings: James, Justin, Betty Lee and Nelson Raye.
She is survived by her husband, Richard; sons, Richard Joseph Jr. (Joe) and David; daughter, Sharon Stonecipher; grandchildren, Leigh and Garnet Muething, Nathan, David, and Peter Stonecipher; sister, Patti Faulkner and many nieces and nephews.
Almarie was a full-time homemaker while her children were young and later worked as a school secretary. A member of St. Paul’s Catholic Church, she was active in many church activities.
She will be deeply missed by her family and friends. The Muething family would like to extend their appreciation and thanks to the staff at Bon Secours Place and Suncoast Hospice for caring for Almarie and making her final days comfortable.
Memorial Mass will be celebrated on Friday, April 5, 2013, at 10 am at St. Paul Catholic Church.

Mr. Muething,Joe, David, and Sharon,
I love the picture you all chose to use for this. In my mind this was the way I always saw your Mom in my mind, with that big smile that drew you in and made you feel special.
I always enjoyed our conversations, she always made me feel like she really was interested in what I had to say.
She will be missed by so many who knew her. Our prayer’s will continue on your behalf as well as your Dad, I know it will take time to adjust to her being gone.

I have wonderful memories of Almarie and Dick’s visits to Canada, when we used to get together. I loved Almarie’s stories. She was an inspiration; we will never forget her.

When I was little and had no grandparents, Almarie and Dick became my ’adopted’ grandparents. I would look forward to their annual visits up north at Kathy and Joe’s where I could spend time with them. I loved Grandma’s outgoing manner – always a smile and lots of laughter. She always had a story to tell and lots of hugs to give. I will always remember her smell and they way she felt when I snuggled up to her – soft and comforting like a big down pillow (I say that in a complimentary way!). I have many good memories of her and Grandpa and I will always cherish them.
