Alvin T. Stevenson, 86, of Seminole, FL, passed away on Wednesday, September 11, 2013 at Bay Pines VA Healthcare System, Bay Pines, FL.
Alvin was born and raised in Staten Island, NY and graduated from Port Richmond High School in 1944 and enlisted in the Navy. He served in Okinawa during WWll as part of the Navy Seabees 3rd Special. Alvin returned from the war in 1946 and worked as a draftsman for several shipping companies in New York City.
In 1952 Alvin married Lillian Heuser. Alvin and Lillian celebrated their 60th Anniversary last November. He joined the insurance business and relocated to Chicago and later, Washington DC, finally settling in Seminole in 1967 where he spent the remainder of his life. He worked as a Regional VP for Colonial Penn Insurance Company and he ran the AAA Motor Club Insurance Agency in St. Petersburg, FL.
Alvin is survived by his wife, Lillian; three sons, Kenneth of Tallahassee, FL, Ronald of St. Petersburg, and Scott of Burbank, CA; and three grandchildren: Ryan and Samantha in Tallahassee, and Andrew in St. Petersburg.
A memorial service will be held at 2:15 PM on Friday, September 27, 2013 at Bay Pines National Cemetery, 10000 Bay Pines Blvd.. A reception to honor Alvin will follow at Seminole Lake Country Club from 3 pm to 5 pm.

Al was the best neighbor ever. We were so fortunate to live across the street from Al and Lillian for 15 years. Al was also a very good friend to us. We always enjoyed our baseball outings and our card playing nights. He will be deeply missed.
