Annie “Anne” Dunlap lane, 81, of Clearwater, FL, passed away on Saturday, February 15, 2014, at the Sunset Point Nursing Home in Clearwater. She was born in Thomasville, GA, and moved to Clearwater in 1959 from there.
Anne worked as a housekeeper in the medical industry, a seamstress and even painted fishing lures. She was very active and a great volunteer at her church, Clearwater First Assembly of God where she faithfully attended for over fifty years. She was a sacrificial giver, a true prayer warrior, nursery worker, Royal Ranger leader, United Family Outreach volunteer, and any other area where there was a need.
Anne’s life was tough and she was acquainted with grief and misery; however, she strengthened herself and others in her God. The “joy of the Lord” was her strength. She was always putting others ahead of herself, making many sacrifices for her family. Her favorite scripture was Proverbs 3: 5-6, “Trust in the LORD with all thine heart; and lean not unto thine own understanding. In all thy ways acknowledge him, and he shall direct thy paths.” She loved her family and especially her boys. Her favorite saying was, “Get out of Dodge”.
She was preceded in death by her parents, brothers, sisters, son, William and daughter, Wanda McCauley. She is survived by her husband, William Lane of Clearwater; sons, Carl Wilcox of Thomasville, GA, Dennis Wilcox, Joe Lane and Tim Lane of Clearwater; grandchildren, Valerie Knowles, Christopher Ian Taft and Robert Carl Wilcox; and great-grandchildren, Sarah and Christy Knowles and Connor Taft.
Services will be held on Friday, February 21, 2014 at Clearwater First Assembly of God, 1739 Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Ave, Clearwater, FL, 33756. A visitation will start at 2:00PM and a service will be held at 3:00PM. She will be interred in Thomasville, GA.

Tracy and I were so sad to hear this week of your mom’s passing. Every memory I have of her is a good one, and every time I encountered her she was always quick to give a hug and share a smile. We won’t be able to be in Clearwater for the funeral, but we’ll be praying for the whole family over the next few days and weeks.

So sorry to hear of your loss we have known Anne for over 50 yrs as Dennis sold newspapers at Kwik Chek where we worked. She always had a smile for you and so friendly to everyone. She will be greatly missed. May God be with you all.

Anne Lane will always be a ’treasured memory’ for me. Joe worked for me in the late 1980’s and somehow she thinks I had something to do with his success. I think his success is because he had a praying mother. I know this for a fact. Anne Lane for years would ask me at church “how is your new business going?” She wanted details. The reason was she really had a prayer list. Prayer was her ’Christian work’ and she took it very seriously. Our church will feel the effects if we don’t find her ’replacement.’ There will never be another Anne Lane. I feel lucky to have been adopted by her.
To the Wilcox, Dunlap & Lane families, my most sincere condolences. Miss Annie, you got out of Dodge, but we were not ready and I miss you so much already, but I know we will see each other again someday, and what a glorious day that will be! You made me feel like a daughter and would always be quick with a hug and a smile. I loved how you kept people in line with your cane and gave them a “love tap” whenever you needed to straighten them out. I’ve been on the receiving end of those love taps and it always made me giggle. Thank you for giving me the honor to sing “Great is Thy Faithfulness” at your coming home day. You were faithful to God, your family, church and close friends. I know your life was full of pain & sorrow and God, in His infinite love, found that it was time to pick one of His beautiful flowers to bring home to live with Him forever. Our garden here on earth will not be same without you. I love you! Kim
