Antonio A. Mercado, 86, of St Petersburg, FL funeral service is 1:00 PM, Thursday, September 25, 2014 at the Gulf Coast Chapel Church, 13301 Walsingham Road, Largo, FL 33774 with Pastor Randy Morris and Pastor Sigil Velez, officiating. The family will receive friends at the Gulf Coast Chapel from Noon until service time. At the conclusion of the service, the Pinellas County Military Affairs Office will honor Antonio’s service in the US Army during the Korean War Era. On Monday, 1:00 PM, September 29, 2014 a graveside side with military honors will be conducted at the Puerto Rico National Cemetery, Bayamon, Puerto Rico.
A native of Lares, Puerto Rico born on March 24, 1928 and passed away on September 22, 2014 in Largo, Florida. Antonio was a local resident since 1996, when he moved here from Arecibo, Puerto Rico, he was a retired truck driver, a Baptist that attended Primera Iglesia Bautista in Arecibo, Puerto Rico and a US Army Veteran of the Korean War.
Antonio is survived by his loving family: his companion and wife, of 55 plus years, Aurea Fuster of Largo, FL; his daughters, Idalis Mercado of Largo, FL and Wanda La Torre and her husband Charles of Seminole, FL; a brother, Baltazar Mercado of Arecibo, Puerto Rico; two sisters, Tencha Mercado and Navi Mercado, both of Mayaguez, Puerto Rico; four grandchildren: Nicholas La Torre, Joseph La Torre, Luis Mendez and Christina Mercado: eight great grandchildren: Jimmy Mercado, Adriauna La Torre, Madelynn La Torre, Analeise La Torre, Elijah La Torre, Eleyna Mendez, Elizabeth Mendez and Maleky Mendez. He is preceded in death by his parents, Nicolas Mercado and Carmen Gonzalez and his two sons, Jorge Mercado in 1995 and Alberto Mercado in 1973.

Viendo la noticia del señor Antonio Mercado pense en estas palabras registradas en Job 14:13 y 15 “!Oh que en el Seol me ocultaras,…que me fijaras un limite de tiempo y te acordaras de mi!…Tu llamaras y yo mismo te respondere.” Deseo de todo corazon que la familia pueda tener consuelo al perder a su ser querido.
