Arthur Mitchell Priest Jr. passed away at the Malcolm Randall VA Hospital, Gainesville, FL on March 19, 2008 from natural causes. A native of West Palm Beach, FL, Mitchell was a foreman in the construction business, a protestant, a US Navy Veteran of the Vietnam War and he was a member of the American Legion. During Mitchell’s military career, he served in the US Navy Seabee’s as a PO2C and he was awarded the National Defense Medal, Vietnam Service Medal, Good Conduct Medal, Navy Unit Commendation Medal, Vietnam Cross of Gallantry, President Unit Citation, Meritorious Unit Commendation, Republic of Vietnam Meritorious Unit Citation, a US Navy Rifle Marksman Ribbon and the Vietnam Campaign Medal. Predeceased by his parents, Arthur and Grace Priest, Mitchell is survived by his brothers, Chris Priest and sister-in-law, Margaret of Lakeville, MN ; Darrell Priest and sister-in-law, Cynthia of Palm Springs, FL ; a niece, Dawn Vanderhoff of Palm Springs, FL and two nephews, Todd Priest of Palm Springs, FL and Alex Priest of Lakeville, MN. Graveside services are 2:30 PM, Tuesday, March 25, 2008 at the South Florida VA National Cemetery, 6501 State Route 7, Lake Worth, FL 33467 with the United States Navy Military Honors Team form Jacksonville, Florida Naval Air Station, officiating. We at American Legion Post 383 in Old Town, FL., are grieving over our loss of Mitch. He was Second Vice at the Post as well as Entertainment Chairman.
