Morley, Barbara A, 78, of Brandon FL, passed away Sunday, January 30, 2011, into the loving arms of
Our Lord.
As a military wife, Barbara raised 5 children while pursuing her passion for charitable work and helping others. A devout Roman Catholic, Barbara was an active member of Nativity Catholic Church in Brandon since moving to Florida in 1973.
In her 35 years at Nativity, she continued her desire to help others by volunteering countless hours in an effort to improve the lives of others. A truly selfless individual she was loved by all who knew her. When at home, Barbara could be found sitting in her favorite chair with a book in her hand, or out on the patio toying with a jigsaw puzzle.
Barbara is survived by her loving husband of 55 years, Ernie, her five children; Karen Matlock (Chris) of Bellaire TX; Mike of Tampa; Bill (Deborah) of Plant City; Theresa Ward of Holiday; Rich (Stephanie) of Riverview; and grandchildren; Ryan, Chris, Sarah, Molly, Maddie, Brandon, Caroline, Alyssa, and extended family and friends.
Funeral service will be held 11:00 a.m. Friday, February 18, 2011 at Nativity Catholic Church in Brandon. The family will receive friends at the church from 10:00 a.m. until service time. Interment will follow at 2:00 p.m. at Florida National Cemetery in Bushnell, FL. Ernie and family, we both met Barbara when we became active in the RCIA program at Nativity – she served for at least a few (maybe several) years as a sponsor, and brought such a brightness to our sessions. She was also in Amy’s bible study group, and Greg & Amy shared PB&J making time with her over the last few years. Now that we are getting over the shock, we are just missing the light she brought into our lives – we can only imagine your sense of loss and pray that her goodness stays with you always.
Ernie and family. Although I only met her once, the obituary tells me what a great person she was. I know you will all miss her. Fran
Hi Ernie and Family; So Sorry to hear about Barbara. We know you will miss her very much. Barbara (Mrs. Morley to us kids!) was always very sweet to us. Can you believe that my father, Fred Kelly, and I have known your family for over 50 years since those days in Germany? All of us Kelly Kids love Barbara and will miss her.
To Ernie and his family – I had breakfast with Jim Sell yesterday and he told me of Barbara’s passing. So sorry to hear that. I know the kind of emptyness you must feel as my wife passed away in Jan 2010. My prayers will be with you.
